“Hot Copper Days” vintage car show, a rockin’ 50s/60s dance contest featuringlocal instructors and musicians, hula hooping, a auto-motorcycle parts swap meet, ice-cream eating contests and more will highlight a day full of fun for the entire family at Copperopolis Town Square on Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free to spectators.

Hot Copper Days is sponsored by the Lake Tulloch Lions Club of Copperopolis. Pre-registration entry fees are $15, and $20 at the gate, day-of-admission. More than 40 trophies will be presented to cars and motorcycles featured in the show, including a People’s Choice Award and a Children’s Choice Award. There is also auto-motorcycle parts swap meet space available for $10.

Hot Copper Days will feature numerous unique and fun activities the whole family can enjoy including a raffle, hula hoop contest and an ice cream eating contest. Live musical entertainment provided by DreamScapes Entertainment Group includes Chains Required, Sonora’s very own nine-member blues, R&B and classic rock band, Log Jam (the best music from the 50s and 60s) and DJ Chaz.

Local dance instructors Jim and Ilene Tassano, Ian “The Dance Guy” Nandhra and Jolene Alquist will host an amateur swing dance contest at 3 p.m., with free swing dance lessons at 2 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place winners as well as “Best Costume” for the dance duo with the best 50s ensemble.

Anyone any age can enter and we encourage all to enter regardless of dance experience. No pre-entry is needed, just show up ready to dance. To top off the 1950s experience, The Pin-up girls will have a booth, where they will be doing 50s-60s hair-dos and be on hand for pictures.

Drinks and food will be available for purchase, including the Lion’s Club’s famous hamburgers and hotdogs. Early birds can enjoy a hot breakfast starting at 6 a.m., and a full bar will be available later in the day. Vendors from across the region will offer products ranging from sports memorabilia, clothing, fashion accessories and art. Proceeds from Hot Copper Days are re-invested in the community, through Humanitarian efforts like the food pantry, providing scholarships and support for local children.
